I have seen a lot of how to make a flat rock mat. The problem with all them is, there are just pictures, no words. I NEED WORDS!
I need to know more of the HOW in the DIY.
So I got a lot of flat rocks, silicone and a flat mat and began the process of putting them on the mat.
Things I learned.
1. Don’t lay out all the rocks on the mat before hand, it was a waste of an hour for me and was hard to know which ones you have glued down.
2. Do this project on a table. Sitting on the ground for hours, makes your feet numb and you will want to be comfortable when doing this project.
3. Have patience. This will take some time, but be so beautiful when you are done.
Lay newspaper down on the table and then place your mat on it.
Put enough silicone down on the rock to ensure so it will stay down for good.
Find a position on the mat and begin working from one side to the other.
Put the rocks as closely together as you want and be consistent throughout the project.
Glue all the rocks down, try not to get silicone all over the rocks while doing it (easier said than done). Wipe your hands off….a LOT.
Allow the mat to dry overnight before using it.
Step back and admire the awesome thing you just created!
