I wanted to give the kids something to do, get their creative side. So I decided I would make the pantry door in the kitchen a chalkboard.
It was pretty simple. I used Rustoleums Chalkboard paint. I taped off the area I wanted to paint with Frog tape (yellow) and pressed it down pretty good.
Now, I will mention that I had this brilliant idea that I would make it magnetic and I used Rust-oleum’s Magnetic paint. It was hard to stir and I didn’t follow the instructions about using a roller, so it was bumpy afterwards (I’m sure it would have been find if I had used a roller).
So I put 3 coats of Rust-oleum Chalkboard Paint and it evened out somewhat, but good enough for a door I know we will be replacing because it’s broken.
Follow the instructions for drying. I let it dry over night before ‘seasoning’ (running chalk sideways over the entire board).
The kids LOVE writing on it. We have went through half a box of chalk in a week.
To clean it, we just wipe it down with a wet cloth.
I definitely recommend using this, it was totally worth the cost and works.
