My kids and I put Rock the Locks to the test on how it would hold up for our hair needs. Our situation is a little unique. My mother is a beautician. I have learned a lot about hair care and what to use and not use on your hair. I’m not an expert, but I have high expectations when it comes to hair products.

When we got our box, the smells were amazing. Lots of fruit scents. That was a little concerning at first for me, but while they smell great, you do not continually smell like them after using. The fragrance is light and not over powering.
My hair is at my shoulders, and is permed and colored. For two weeks I washed my hair with the so fresh & so clean shampoo/conditioner combo. It has a blueberry smell and is plant based. I used the not so knotty conditioner detangler. It has a pineapple banana (yum) smell, and the curl wanna have fun on my hair which smelled like creamsicle. My daughters hair is down to her butt and has a super sensitive scalp. While she liked the shampoo/conditioner, she needed additional conditioner to get the tangles out. She also used the lock it & rock it hair spray after curling her hair which has a fruity smell.
I wash my hair every other day. I used about a quarter size amount of shampoo on my hair. The first wash doesn’t have a lot of suds as the second wash. (I wash my hair twice). My hair does not have a heavy feeling that you can get with some shampoos from the stores where it felt like it was coated. My hair felt clean. When it dried, it was shiny and easy to manage.
I found I had the same amount of tangles in my hair using the so fresh & so clean shampoo. Using the not so knotty conditioner detangler, I sprayed my entire head of hair with this and was able to get my snarls out just fine.
I dried my hair a bit in a towel to get out any excess water and sprayed my hair with the curls wanna have fun. My hair did not frizz like it does sometimes. It acted as a way to give me some pretty curls. I didn’t have to mouse up my hair like I normally do. My hair didn’t feel weighted down. I found my hair didn’t have look dirty in between washes.
As the tween is just getting into curling her hair and using all these amazing products, we had some trial and errors on her end. After guiding her on how to use the hairspray, it worked great for her. Her learning was the problem, not the product. She loved that she did her hair in a high pony tale and at the end of the day when she let down her hair, she had soft wavy curls.
My son loved the shampoo, but really enjoyed using the don’t messy with me texture paste. He loved the apple smell and his hair was kept in place.
