Coats laying all over the house? That was our situation. We’ve moved into a new house, there is one tiny closet full of the winter stuff and the rest the coats are just laying around on coaches, chairs (the floor). We needed a coat rack.
Since this is an old house, we have tons of old wood laying around. It took us (and when I say us, hubby took the lead on this), to make it.
I picked out the wood, he assembled.
What you need:
place to hang the coat rack once completed.
few long screws & enough short screws to put the hooks on
Check to make sure it fits once you cut it. Adjust if necessary. If you cut it too short, PERFECT!…it will fit. 🙂
Take the hooks you have (or purchased) and evenly space them on the board.
Screw them on with the small screws (they should not stick out of the back of the board).
Find the studs in the wall. This is important to have this coat rack hold the weight of the items are you puting on it.
Take the longer screws (should be long enough to go through the board and into the wall to hold the weight of everything you put on it.
Have the board level (you can use a level or eye ball it, whichever you prefer). Put screws on both ends into the studs. Consider putting a screw in the middle so it is secured.
