Homemade seed strips
Seed strips are just pieces of newspaper with a mix of flour and water mixed together as the glue, so you can prep for your garden early in the spring. Then when the temperatures are right, you can get you strips and plant your garden quickly.
What you’ll need:
Squeeze bottle (we found ours in the Wilton baking section of Joanns)
3 tablespoons of flour
1/4 cup water
Pour the flour and water into the bottle, close it and shake it to mix it together. It should be kinda like pancake batter consistency, so adjust with more water/flour as needed.
Lay out the newspaper and take the squeeze bottle and squeeze out small drops of the mix on the newspaper the proper distance from each other.
Allow to dry and be sure to write down what the seeds are (since some look alike) so you know what is what. (we are planting jack-o-lantern pumpkins and pie pumpkins. you can also write down the depth you need to dig down to plant the seeds on the paper for reference.
When you are ready, use your hoe and dig make a furrough for the seeds. Place the strip down and then cover with dirt and add water.
Now I know this is not a craft, but this is a great DIY project for your gardening.
