It’s easy, not sure why I don’t do it more often than when it’s closer to the holidays. This is great to make in small jars, wrap with a ribbon and a basket of apples, instant semi-healthy gift!
What you need:
Eagle Brand or other brand of sweetened condenced milk
small canning jars, seals and lids.
What you will want to do is open your can of sweetened condensed milk and pour it evenly into your jars. My 4 jars were filled (well, ok the last one, not as full).
Put them in your crock pot with the seal and lids on them tight.
Cover the jars with water so it is way over the top of them (you want them to stay covered with water the entire time.)
Put the crock pot on low for 8 ours. Once your sweetened condenced milk reaches that pretty carmel color, it’s done.
The jars should seal too, so you can store this and eat when you want.
All year long.
So My $1.50ish investment in the sweetened milk, made 4 small jars of carmel. Instead of $2-4 for a container. (not including the jars I bought, because I didn’t have smaller jars for you to see). You can make it in pints if you want to, just cover them well!
